Frequently Asked Questions

Are you just a bunch of private school kids with nothing better to do with your time?
No. Members are from diverse backgrounds and are generally very busy! They make time for Brighton CF because they enjoy meeting like-minded young people and they care about the way their country is run.

Why do you bother? No one listens to the young anyway.
It does sometimes seem that the voices of the young are ignored, but here in Brighton and Hove we are not – we often meet with the leaders of the council and high ranking party officials to discuss policy.

Is it actually fun sitting round talking about politics?
It can be, yes! But of course we all enjoy other things as well and the conversation often centres on anything but politics.

What do you do?
Many things. We often go out for a drink and/or a curry. We have a pub quiz team which regularly competes in pubs around Brighton and Hove. We also campaign for the local party, hold debates and host exceptional speakers. For those who are really keen, we will also organise training sessions on topics such as ‘media handling’ and ‘public speaking’.

Well, how can I get involved?
Come along to one of our events and, if you like it, join our mailing list so that you are kept up to date on all of our activities. You could also join our Facebook group to keep up with the latest discussions.

What will I get out of it?
You will hopefully make some good friends, have fun (with the odd free drink) and help to shape the future of this country along the way. You will also be able to develop your communication skills and, if you want to go into public affairs or politics, have a great line to put on your CV!

Will I get to meet David Cameron?
There is every chance. David Cameron has come down to Brighton twice in 2007 so far and we hope he will visit us again…
